Jon Heyman posted a tweet with Corey Hart’s contract details. We already knew that Hart was going to make $2.5 M in base salary and could earn that same amount in incentives, but those incentives weren’t announced until today. He will make an extra $250K if he reaches 350 plate appearances and then for every 25 PA after that(375, 400 and 425) he will get another $250K. He then has five chances to make an extra $1.5M total with 450, 475, 500, 525 and 550 plate appearances, getting $300K for each level reached.
If Hart is getting that many plate appearances for the Pirates next year, then they are probably getting great value out of his deal. He won’t be reaching any of them as the righty part of a first base platoon. For reference, Gaby Sanchez had 290 and 320 plate appearances the last two years.
corey hart: $2.5M base. 250K for 350, 375, 400, 425 pa. 300K for 450, 475, 500, 525, 550 pa. #pirates
