Yesterday, we posted an article about the recent struggles of Tony Sanchez, who has seen his average drop to .203 through 41 games in Indianapolis. He batted .145 in the month of June, but has picked things up a little in July. Yesterday, he went 1-for-5 with two walks in a doubleheader. That one hit was a big one, a three-run homer seen below. It was the sixth homer for Sanchez in AAA and eighth on the season.
Gift Ngoepe has also slumped since starting the season off strong. He batted .189 in June and saw his strong BB/SO ratio from early in the year, plummet to 5/26 in 74 at-bats during the month-long slump. Ngoepe has hits in four of his last five games, including a triple and a home run from last night. As you can see from the video, there is some power in that bat when he gets a hold of one. The homer was his sixth of the season, three short of his career high set in Bradenton in 2012.
Finally, one highlight from someone who has already been promoted to the Majors. Jaff Decker made this highlight reel catch on Wednesday.
