Andrew Lambo Has Surgery on Right Thumb

Published:

Andrew Lambo had surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament of his right thumb, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced. The surgery was performed on May 28th. Ryan Palencer reported a few days ago that Lambo was going to visit a specialist. Originally his injury was thought to be a bruised thumb, but obviously that’s not the case.

The typical recovery time for this injury is six to eight weeks. That would at least put Lambo out through the middle of July, if not the end of July. That could impact any potential trade value if the Pirates wanted to deal him at the deadline. However, he could come up as a bat off the bench in August or September if the recovery goes well. Lambo’s rehab will take place in Bradenton.
