This one was a late addition from Sunday night’s Altoona game, so we didn’t have it in yesterday’s Prospect Highlights. Alen Hanson, batting from the left side, goes the opposite way for a double in the seventh inning. Hanson reached base twice on Monday, giving him a .319/.354/.583 slash line in 18 May games.
On Monday, Mel Rojas Jr. had three hits and drove in three runs. The video below shows two of those hits and all three RBIs. Rojas is having a strong season with a .305/.371/.435 slash line in 41 games. He has hit well in the clutch, batting .375 with runners in scoring position, leading to 30 RBIs on the season, fourth highest total in the Eastern League. Rojas is also hitting well from both sides of the plate, posting an .807 OPS from the right side and .804 while hitting lefty.
One last highlight, this one from the Indianapolis game. With outfield injuries running rampant in Pittsburgh, I’m sure they were glad to see Jaff Decker come up limping after this outstanding defensive play.
