The Arizona Fall League completed their first week of the season last week. Here is how the Pirates prospects have fared in the first week of competition.
**Matt Curry: 4-for-13 (.308), 2 2B
Curry’s four games are tied for the most on the team. His 13 at-bats are also tied for first on the team. He’s been getting very consistent playing time so far, as much as anyone else.
**Adalberto Santos: 2-for-9, 2B, 4 BB, 3 K, SB
Santos showed great plate patience during the regular season, with a 32:39 BB/K ratio in 238 at-bats. So far he’s off to a good start, with four walks in his first week.
**Gift Ngoepe: 0-for-5, 2 BB, 4 K
Ngoepe hasn’t played as much as Santos or Curry, getting a few appearances as a pinch runner. He only has five at-bats, but the strikeouts will be something to watch in his first taste of upper level pitching.
**Kyle Kaminska: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Kaminska got a start this week, giving up three runs in four innings.
**Vic Black: 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Black pitched twice this week, both times coming in the eighth inning.
**Brandon Cumpton: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
Cumpton got two appearances, with the second appearance coming in relief with two outs and a runner on. His first outing didn’t go so well, giving up two runs in an inning.
**Tyler Waldron: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Waldron only saw one appearance, but had a good result, throwing a shutout inning and only allowing one base runner, which was a hit batter.
