STATE COLLEGE, PA – Major League Baseball Advanced Media announced on Monday that State College Spikes outfielder Adalberto Santos has been named the New York-Penn League’s Player of the Week for the week of August 23-29, 2010.

Santos earned the award by hitting 8-for-18 with two doubles, a triple and a home run over the past week. The New York City native also added a pair of runs batted in to bump his season total to a team-leading 35, and stole his team-leading 17th base. Santos, the 22nd-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2010, is currently in the top five in the NYPL in runs scored with 45 and on-base percentage at .407, while also occupying seventh place in the league in hitting with a .321 average.

The Spike outfielder becomes the fifth Spike to win one of the NYPL’s weekly awards in 2010.
