Game Notes: Dallas McPherson hit his first homer for Indianapolis. Jeff Locke gave up two runs in the first inning , then settled down over the next five. He threw 88 pitches, 61 for strikes. Brock Holt is hitting for a .404 average and a .963 OPS with Indianapolis in 47 at-bats. He has an eight game hitting streak. The Pirates may need to call up a pitcher or two from Indianapolis tomorrow. I looked at the possibilities in this blog post.

Game Notes: Altoona went up against Brandon Morrow for the first 4.2 innings, who was making a rehab start. They scored both of their runs against him on four hits and two walks. Mike Colla made his first start since July 21st. As a starter this year he has a 4.84 ERA in 44.2 innings with a 34:13 K/BB ratio. As a reliever he has a 3.07 ERA in 44 innings with a 38:12 K/BB ratio.

Game Notes: Nick Kingham carried a no-hitter in to the fifth inning. In his last seven starts he has given up six earned runs in 37.1 innings, with a 29:8 K/BB ratio. Jose Osuna hit his 16th homer of the year, which puts him in a tie with Alen Hanson and Willy Garcia for the farm system lead. Eric Avila homered in his fourth straight game, and has five homers in his last eight games. He’s hitting for a .285/.329/.562 line in 137 at-bats this year. Alen Hanson stole his 32nd base of the year.
