Game Notes: Juan Cruz struggled in his rehab start, and was removed after one out. Nathan Baker came on and got the final two outs in the first inning. Phil Irwin then took over as the regularly scheduled starter and pitched another good game. In his last ten games, Irwin has a 1.83 ERA in 59 innings with a 56:8 K/BB ratio. Six of his 12 earned runs in that span came in one game. Victor Black had his second straight rough outing, giving up a big homer to blow a save. In his last two appearances, Black has given up five earned runs in 2.1 innings, with a 3:3 K/BB ratio.

Since the All-Star break he is hitting for a .319/.384/.472 line in 144 at-bats. Ryan Hafner had another rough outing, giving up five runs on two walks and three hits, while getting just one out. Three of the runs scored off of Zac Fuesser. Mike Jefferson bounced back well, after giving up six runs on eight hits in five innings last time out.
