The Peoria Javelinas won 4-3 over the Scottsdale Scorpions on Monday night. Despite the win, they were eliminated from the playoff chase according to the league standings, which means first place Surprise owns the tiebreaker, since the Javelinas trail by three games with three games left. For the second day in a row, Jared Oliva was the only player from the Pittsburgh Pirates to see action.
Oliva batted third and played right field. He was hit by a pitch in the first inning, then singled and scored a run in the third inning. He finished 1-for-4 on the night. Oliva is hitting .341/.443/.524 in 23 games. He leads the league with 28 hits, 11 doubles and ten steals.
Peoria has off on Tuesday, before playing their final three games of the regular season on Wednesday and Thursday night, finishing up on Friday afternoon.
Oneil Cruz hasn’t played since last Wednesday. While seeing if there was any reason given for his absence (I didn’t see one), I found these two videos of his with opposite results.
