Bradenton Marauders 2, � Daytona Cubs �0 (box)
Three Bradenton pitchers combined to shut out the Daytona Cubs on Tuesday. �Starter Jeff Locke pitched into the 7th inning, allowing just 5 hits, no walks, and striking out 3 batters. �Locke faced only the minimum number of batters over the first three innings, allowing a lead-off single in the 3rd, but erasing him with a line-out/ double-off double play. �Two more double plays erased singles in the 4th and 5th innings also. �Daytona left only two runners on base — one who doubled after the double play in the 4th, and a two-out single in the 7th. �Locke sat down after that last single, relieved by Diego Moreno. Moreno ended the 7th inning with a strikeout, then retired the side in the 8th. �Tom Boleska pitched a perfect 9th inning for the Marauders. �Locke earned his 3rd win of the season, and Boleska earned his 2nd save.
The Marauder batters were also held to 5 hits, and took advantage of 5 walks. �Two of those walks, to 3B Jeremy Farrell and DH Eric Fryer, were followed by an RBI single by RF Austin McClune in the 2nd inning, driving in Farrell with the Marauder’s first run. �After two 1-2-3 innings, McClune started another rally in the 5th with his one-out single. �A balk put McClune on second base, and he scored on SS Brock Holt’s single. �Holt also stole second base, but was left stranded. �Those two runs were all the Marauders would need. �They loaded the bases in the 6th inning, on walks to C Tony Sanchez and Fryer, and a single by Farrell, but a ground out ended the inning without a run scoring. �2B James Skelton walked in the 7th, and Sanchez doubled in the 8th, but both were left on base.
