Pirates Prospect Watch: Rodolfo Nolasco Hits His 18th Home Run

Published:

Tuesday’s action in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ minor league system featured the Bradenton Marauders in a playoff push, and a team effort from the Indianapolis offense.

PLAYER OF THE DAY

RODOLFO NOLASCO, DH, BRADENTON

Nolasco went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run, knocking in five runs for Bradenton. The home run was his 18th of the season, and he also added his 11th stolen base. The Marauders are in a playoff push, starting the week 1.5 games back from Lakeland. They remain 1.5 games back on Wednesday, despite Nolasco powering them to a win on Tuesday.

TUESDAY’S BEST

NICK GONZALES, 2B, INDIANAPOLIS

Gonzales went 4-for-5 with a triple and four runs scored on Tuesday, leading Indianapolis to a 10-8 victory.

JARED TRIOLO, SS, INDIANAPOLIS

Triolo went 1-for-2 with a double, but walked three times, helping to extend the inning a few times after Gonzales reached.

CANAAN SMITH-NJIGBA, RF, INDIANAPOLIS

Smith-Njigba went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, spending an entire night knocking in Gonzales (four times) and Triolo (once). That’s teamwork.

JACKSON WOLF, LHP, ALTOONA

Wolf pitched five innings for Altoona, giving up three runs. He was hurt by the long ball, giving up two homers on four hits and no walks. Wolf struck out four batters on the day.

LONNIE WHITE JR., CF, BRADENTON

White hit his eighth homer of the year for Bradenton on Tuesday. The center fielder has a .260/.398/.507 line in 146 at-bats with Bradenton since the start of July, after missing time with an injury. This has been the first extended stretch of playing in his pro career, and the 2021 second rounder is showing why the Pirates went over-slot to sign him away from Penn State.

CHARLES MCADOO, LF, BRADENTON

McAdoo went 1-for-3 with two walks and a home run. McAdoo was drafted in the 13th round out of San Jose State. In 81 at-bats across his pro debut, he’s batting .321/.421/.556 with five homers.
