Aaron Pribanic and Jarek Cunningham to the DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Aaron Pribanic and Jarek Cunningham on the Double-A disabled list.

Pribanic was placed on the DL with a right shoulder injury. The right hander had a 7.36 ERA in 11 innings over three starts, with a 6:11 K/BB ratio.

Cunningham was placed on the DL with a left wrist injury, retroactive to April 20th. Cunningham has a .243/.317/.405 line in 37 at-bats this year. He’s been injured every year as a pro.

Greg Picart will replace Cunningham on the roster. Altoona has one spot open, with just 11 active pitchers. Indianapolis recently demoted left-hander Kris Johnson back to Altoona to make room for Jared Hughes.

Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.

Well, that sucks.  Not real surprising about Pribanic, though.  He’s had trouble throwing strikes, which isn’t normal for him, so you have to think he hasn’t been healthy.
