| The Pirates picked Sanchez up after the Mets cut him loose. He had pitched only briefly for New York, in the VSL even though he’s Dominican. He’s one of those players who makes it clear the team doesn’t make promotion decisions at the lowest levels by looking at stat sheets. In his case, a mid-90s fastball is probably the attraction.
