| You don’t see many high school first baseman in the draft, but the Pirates took a big one in Simpson. They found a nice power bat in Mason Martin out of Washington two years ago and may have found another here. Simpson has a commitment to Washington State. He has quick hands and makes hard contact, with an excellent track record against premium pitching accord to Prep Baseball Report. Simpson has raw power, with more possibly on the way as he fills out his frame. He’s looked solid at first base, with a strong arm. He’s also pitched and played third base in high school. |
