SCOUTING REPORT
Vasquez jumped around between three teams during the 2008-2009 off-season, before finally landing with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Vasquez put up good numbers as a starter at the AAA level with Indianapolis, but struggled in his 44.2 innings with the Pirates in the majors.  Vasquez posted a 6.09 ERA in 34 innings as a starter, and a 5.06 ERA in 10.2 innings as a reliever.  He had a few quality starts, but wasn’t consistent with his outings.

The 2009 season pretty much sums up Vasquez.  He’s an emergency starter, or a bullpen depth option.  He can provide some good outings, but nothing on a consistent level.  His AAA numbers are good, but unless he can replicate those numbers in the majors, he’ll be stuck in this depth role.
