WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Kraft started for three years at Western Kentucky after getting limited playing time as a freshman. He had very good seasons as a sophomore (319/409/476) and senior (382/483/494), with a rough junior season (250/331/350) in between. He had very good walk and strikeout numbers in the two good seasons, and not good in the other. Kraft played second base and outfield in college. The Pirates signed him as a non-drafted free agent. He figures to serve in some sort of utility role in the lower levels of the system.
2018 The Pirates sent Kraft to the GCL, where he was one of a surprisingly large number of college players on the roster. He spent half his games as DH, and most of the rest in the outfield corners. He started one game each at second and third. Kraft hit well, with very good plate discipline, but of course he was old for the level. He missed the last couple weeks with a hamstring injury. Kraft could be with Bristol or Morgantown in 2019. |
