WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES

Hoffman was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the 29th round of the 2011 draft out of High School.  He chose not to sign and went to South Mountain Community College, where he pitched just one game during the 2012 season.  At the time of the draft he was pitching in the Jayhawk Summer Baseball League in Kansas.  Hoffman has also played infield.  He put up good stats in 2013 while splitting his time between starting and relief.  He is tough to hit and he fits the Pirates recent draft mold of 6’4″ right-handed pitchers.
