| Hoerter should have gone a lot sooner in this draft, which likely means he has a high bonus number in mind to keep him from attending Auburn. According to Prep Baseball Report, his fastball sits 87-90 MPH, topping out at 91. Hoerter mixes that with a curveball and a changeup that both sit in the high 70s. PBR calls him a highly projectable pitcher, with a frame that has room to fill out. He’s extremely athletic, with great arm speed and a minimal effort delivery. It will be interesting to see if the Pirates have bonus pool money available to sign him after going all in during the first two rounds. If they do, he could end up being the best pick from the third day of the draft. |
