WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
The Pirates signed Figuereo as a defense-oriented infielder. He was thought to have the ability to stay at shortstop, but he’s played there very little, probably because his hitting hasn’t indicated much potential.
2020 2021 Figuereo split his time mostly between second and third, seeing just a little time at short. He had a .706 fielding percentage at third, so that may not be a viable position. He was overmatched at the plate, fanning in over half his at-bats. 2022 The Pirates sent Figuereo back to the DSL and he mostly played second, with no time at short. His hitting didn’t progress; the increased OBP resulted from him getting hit with pitches five times. It’s not going well for Figuereo and he’s 20 now. |
