WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Miller pitched for Clemson in 2017-18 and West Texas A&M in 2021. He didn’t get into much action, totaling just 15.1 IP in the three seasons, all in relief. He had very high walk and K rates. The Angels drafted him in 2018 but he didn’t sign. In 2021, Miller pitched for Ogden of the now-independent Pioneer League. He throws an upper-80s to low-90s fastball, along with a curve and change. The Pirates signed him to a minor league deal for 2022.
2021 Miller started 13 games for Ogden and got into another ten in relief. The numbers weren’t as alarming as they look; the league had a 6.98 ERA. 2022 Miller saw time with the three lowest-level domestic affiliates. He got good results at every level and held left-handed hitters overall to a .457 OPS. Miller will turn 26 during the 2023 season, so it’s premature to draw any conclusions about his good showing in 2022. It’s possible he could open 2023 in Altoona. |
