Trinidad has good hitting ability, including some power, but he’s been held back by a failure to get in good shape. That’s almost certainly the reason he spent so long in the VSL. His build is reminiscent of Randall Simon, although he’s shorter. He played a little in the outfield in the VSL, but he’ll be limited to first going forward.
2006-08: Hit for decent power and drew a lot of walks his first two years in the VSL, then missed 2008 due to injury. 2009: Got in better shape for 2009 and had a huge year, although he’s still quite hefty and was overage for the league. 2010: Figured to be the starting firstbaseman in the GCL in 2010, but missed season’s first half with another injury. Upon returning, showed good power but didn’t get on base much. Trinidad turned 22 late in the season, so he’s going to have to hurry to establish himself as a prospect. The fact that he’s shown some power may get him a shot at higher levels. |
