| Guzman is a converted middle infielder with good athleticism. When he signed, he was throwing 86-89 mph with a slider and a change.
2020 2021 Guzman did decently considering that he was a recent convert to pitching. He missed a good number of bats and he mostly pitched well after a rough first month. He missed much of July. 2022 Guzman’s second season wasn’t quite the disaster it appears to have been. He had a string of terrible outings in late June in which he gave up 18 earned runs and walked ten while recording just four outs. The Pirates held him out for a month, then he got into three games in August. He allowed just an unearned run over five innings, although he did walk five. Guzman at least managed to bounce back briefly from a horrific stretch in 2022, and he’s not very experienced. |
