WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Medina is a big, left-handed hitting outfielder whom the Pirates signed at age 17. He seems to have some speed, but is probably just a corner outfielder.
2018 Medina opened the season in the DSL and hit well through nine games, then the Pirates moved him up to the GCL. The Pirates had some roster crunches at the lower levels, particularly in the DSL because they had a very large number of international signings in 2017-18. That’s probably the reason they moved Medina up. He was out of his depth in the GCL, as shown in part by the fact that he drew no walks. A little surprisingly, Medina will move up to Bristol in 2019. |
