WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Del Rosario is a small righty from the Dominican. He wasn’t a prominent signing. He throws a four-seam fastball that sits in the mid-90s early in games, along with a sinker, slider and change.
2018 Del Rosario made a brief debut, pitching seven times in relief. 2019 The Pirates used Del Rosario as a starter and he put up solid results. Opponents slugged only .301 against him. 2020 2021 Pitching in a swing role in the FCL, Del Rosario had a very good season, probably better than the ERA indicates. Opponents had a 224/287/336 line against him and he missed a lot more bats than previously. 2022 Del Rosario spent the season in the Bradenton rotation and was very solid. He didn’t miss many bats, but he threw strikes and got a lot of ground balls. He had no meaningful platoon split. Given his size, there’ll be obvious questions about Del Rosario’s ceiling, but he’s consistently pitched well. |
