| Gibbs had a disappointing junior season before Arizona drafted him, posting a 7.81 ERA with 38 walks, nine hit batsmen and 19 wild pitches in 55 innings. He sits in the low-90s and can reach the mid-90s, with an average slider and change, but doesn’t challenge hitters. The Diamondbacks released him after just a year, really half a year, in their system and he signed with the Pirates.
2012 Despite being a college draftee, Gibbs spent most of his debut season in rookie league. He put up about as bad a line as you’ll see. The Pirates must regard Gibbs as a project. He’ll probably appear in the GCL. |
