WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
The Pirates signed Sullivan as part of their newfound interest in the Pacific Rim. He played for Australia in the World Junior Championships and signed a contract with the Pirates for 2010. Sullivan was already at MLB’s Australian academy at the time of the signing, having thrown 20 innings with 6 walks, 21 Ks and an ERA of 1.35. He throws an upper-80s fastball that lacks movement, along with a curve and change.
2010 Sullivan started the season with State College, pitching briefly and not very well in relief. Once the 2010 draftees started arriving he went to the GCL. He walked and struck out very few hitters. 2011 I don’t know the nature of the injury. Sullivan was still with the organization at the end of the 2011 season, so he could appear on one of the short season teams in 2012. |
