RELEASED

SCOUTING REPORT
Bishop has been a reliever his entire minor league career, and while his ratios have looked fantastic, his ERA hasn’t reflected the performance.  That was especially the case in 2009.  Bishop advanced to high-A, where he posted an 8.1 K/9, a 2.7 BB/9, and an 0.6 HR/9 ratio in 80.2 innings in relief.  Despite the strong numbers, which included a 1.21 WHIP, Bishop ended up with a 5.02 ERA.  He should make the jump to AA in 2010, remaining in the bullpen.  Bishop has gone a level per year, which would put him on track for the majors at the age of 27.  If he can continue putting up strong ratios out of the bullpen at higher levels, he’s a good bet to make this happen, possibly sooner rather than later.
