Rossi played part-time for Keystone College as a junior in 2010, then played second regularly for Mitchell College in 2011. He hit 290/389/452 for Keystone and 333/387/452 for Mitchell, the latter line making him one of the team’s weaker hitters. Rossi also served as Mitchell’s closer. He wasn’t drafted, but played in the independent Frontier League in 2011 and 2014. The Pirates signed him to a minor league deal for 2015.
2011 Rossi played 20 games for Washington of the Frontier League. He split his time between second and short, and also pitched in four games. 2012-13 Rossi did not play in organized or independent ball these two years. 2014 The Nationals signed Rossi to a minor league deal, but cut him during spring training. He signed with Traverse City of the Frontier League and played 20 games, mostly at short. Rossi figures to serve as infield depth at the lower levels, possibly with one of the short season teams. |
