Hiciano was already 20 when he signed and got only limited experience in his first two years. He throws in the low-90s and is capable of reaching the mid-90s with his fastball.
2013 Hiciano pitched in just five games in relief. Despite the ERA, he struggled badly, walking more than twice as many as he struck out. 2014 Hiciano improved significantly, although he still made only ten relief appearances. 2015 The Pirates brought Hiciano to camp in 2015, but when the short season leagues opened play they put him on the minor league 60-day disabled list. He ended up having Tommy John surgery. 2016 Hiciano got into two games late in the GCL season. Hiciano will open the 2017 season at age 25, but he has very little experience. Given his age, the Pirates may move him up to Bristol. |
