PROFILE

Cucjen played sparingly his first three years at Alabama, then got semi-regular time as a senior.  He played short, second and third, appearing often as a defensive replacement or pinch runner.  He hit very little, with a .514 OPS in his senior year and .600 for his career.  He went undrafted, but the Pirates signed him after several of their lower-level middle infielders got hurt.

R+:  248/322/286, 133 AB, 3 2B, 1 3B, 14 BB, 28 K, 9-10 SB

Cucjen went to Bristol and played semi-regularly at second, while also filling in at third and short.  He got on base at a passable rate while showing no power.  Defensively, he had trouble with errors.

If the Pirates retain him, Cucjen will fill in as an infielder at the lower levels.
