The Pirates used Henriquez out of the bullpen in his debut season and he got hit fairly hard.  He also had mild control problems.

2012
DSL:  2-4-0, 3.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 59.1 IP, 2.1 BB/9, 5.6 K/9

Henriquez got better results as a starter, although they were mainly the product of improved control.  Opponents still hit .282 against him.

2013
DSL:  4-1-1, 1.72 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 62.2 IP, 2.0 BB/9, 5.5 K/9

Henriquez continued to improve, this time as a swing man.  He held opponents to a .246 average.

2014
R+:  0-2-0, 6.11 ERA, 1.98 WHIP, 17.2 IP, 5.6 BB/9, 6.1 K/9

Given his experience level, the Pirates skipped Henriquez over the GCL and sent him to Bristol.  He struggled there in relief, putting up poor numbers across the board.

Henriquez will turn 23 during the 2015 season and didn’t handle advanced rookie ball well.  He could return there or the Pirates could try him at Morgantown.
