WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
Sharp bears some similarities to 2010 draftee Adalberto Santos, who put up some impressive hitting numbers at an older age than most college players. Sharp has hit for average and power, and shown good basestealing skills. He’s done this against younger competition, as he took two years off before going to college to train as a firefighter. He doesn’t profile as a shortstop in the pros, and will likely move elsewhere. He should provide some depth in A-ball, and could be a surprise if he manages to hit in pro ball like he hit in college, which would be similar to what Santos did last year. He signed a few days after the draft and will head to State College. |
