WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
Sanchez is a very tall lefty who’s struggled with significant control problems. He was throwing in the mid-80s early in training camp in 2013.
NOTE: The Pirates also have a RHP named Angel Sanchez. The righty is Angel L., while the lefty is Angel R. 2010 Sanchez showed some promise in his debut despite control issues. He had a 2:1 ground out to air out ratio. Aside from one start, the Pirates used him in relief. 2011 Sanchez had a lost season due to an inability to throw strikes. 2012 Working as a starter, Sanchez got back to where he’d been in 2010, with a little improvement. He allowed only 34 hits in 44.1 IP. 2013 Sanchez pitched in relief in the GCL, mostly in 2-3 inning outings. He made considerable progress with his control, but didn’t miss a lot of bats. He didn’t have a meaningful platoon split. Sanchez was with Bristol at the start of 2014. |
