Martinez was nearly 19 when he signed, which is a relatively late age.  He has decent size for a lefty and throws in the upper-80s, with a good change and also a curve.

Despite the ERA, Martinez struggled, mainly with his control, in limited action.  He made just six relief appearances.  Over half the runs he allowed were unearned.
