WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
About the only thing I could find on Archibald when he was drafted was that he goes by “Cliff.” He doesn’t throw hard, only around 87, which makes me think the Pirates view him as an organizational pitcher. He played just one year of JC ball and signed a few weeks after the draft.
2010 Struggled in the GCL. He didn’t walk many, but got hit hard, especially by LH batters, who hit .377 against him. 2011 The Pirates moved Archibald up to State College and he fared a little better, but he still had a very high WHIP. He got his K rate up, but his walk rate increased significantly. This time right-handed hitters hit him much harder. Archibald could appear at West Virginia or State College, or both, in 2012. |
