Peoria came into Saturday night’s game on the road in Surprise with a 3-6 record. Two Pittsburgh Pirates were in the lineup tonight, batting in the top two spots in the order. Ji-hwan Bae batted lead-off and he was the DH. Nick Gonzales batted second and played second base. Here’s a recap of their night:
Bae struck out swinging to start the game. He flew out to left field to end the second inning, then grounded out in the fifth. Bae picked up a single in the eighth on a line drive into left field. He then flew out to center field in the ninth, leaving him 1-for-5 with a single. He’s hitting .303, with an .809 OPS.
Gonzales struck out in the first inning and the third inning. His day didn’t get any better in the fifth, which he ended by grounding into a double play. He flew out to center field in the eighth, then flew out to right field to end the game, giving him a forgettable 0-for-5 night. He’s batting .241, with a .678 OPS.
Peoria lost 10-6, dropping them to 3-7 to end the second week of action.
