WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
The Pirates signed Polanco at age 17. He wasn’t a prominent signing.
2018 Polanco played sparingly in his debut. 2019 Polanco was the primary catcher for one of the Pirates’ DSL affiliates. He threw out 40% of base stealers. At the plate, he had a solid season with outstanding walk and K rates. 2020 2021 Polanco went to the FCL in 2021, but got only limited playing time. His team used eight different catchers, with five playing at least five games out of the team’s 42. He didn’t hit much, but showed some power and drew a remarkable number of walks. 2022 Polanco missed the entire season due to injury. Polanco appears to have some ability, but after five years he hasn’t seen a great deal of action. |
