The Bradenton Marauders have a double header today, to make up for last night’s rain out. Like the Power on Sunday, what was supposed to be the first of two 7-inning games went into extra innings… 10 innings to finish.
Brevard County Manatees 5, Bradenton Marauders 4 (box)
Tyler Cox suffered the loss for the Marauders, as a 2-out rally in the bottom of the 10th gave the Manatees the winning run on a single, a walk, and a walk-off single.
The Manatees had struck first, scoring in the bottom of the 1st. The first batter of the inning reached on a throwing error by 1B Calvin Anderson, then two outs later, a 2-run homer gave them 2 unearned runs.
The Marauders took advantage of two throwing errors, on the first two plays, then a ground out, to score Anderson with their own unearned run. Anderson did further damage in the 4th, when he led off with a solo home run. A walk to DH Erik Huber, a ground out by 2B Adenson Chourio, and an RBI double by SSGreg Picart drove in Chourio, and a single by Grossman brought in Picart. The Marauders had a 4-2 lead.
Brevard County cut the lead to one run in the 5th, on two singles, a throwing error by Picart, and a sacrifice fly. Then they tied the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th on a 2-out solo homer.
Aaron Pribanic allowed 3 unearned runs in his 6 innings of work in this start, allowing 5 hits and a walk. Noah Krol was charged with the Blown Save when he gave up the home run in the bottom of the 7th. Mike Colla retired the side in the 8th, then had to work out of a jam in the 9th — a single and two passed balls put a runner on third base, and a little tapper back to the mound let Colla field the ball and fire to the plate, where C James Skelton was able to tag out the runner from third, keeping the score tied. The Marauders could not get much going in those late innings — just a walk to Skelton in the 10th.

Manatees 4, Marauders 3 (box)
In Game 2, the two teams couldn’t wait to get to the scoring. The Marauders jumped out to a 3-run lead in the top of the 1st, beginning with a pair of walks to SS Greg Picart and RF Robbie Grossman. LF Quincy Latimore brought both of them in with a double, and Latimore went to third on the throw in from the outfield. A sacrifice fly by 1B Calvin Anderson drove Latimore in with the third run of the inning.
A single, three consecutive walks, and a fly out surrendered by starter Nate Adcock let the Manatees get two of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. Adcock settled in and found his control over the next four innings. He scattered a double, a single, and a walk over those four. The Marauders’ bats went quiet too — they had only a walk to DH Adenson Chourio and a single by Grossman over those four innings. 3B Jeremy Farrell singled to open the 6th inning, and went to second base on a wild pitch, but was left on base.
In the bottom of the 6th, Melkin Laureano took over for Adcock. He gave up a single to the first batter he faced, then a 2-run homer to the next batter, giving the Manatees the lead. Picart singled in the 7th, but could not advance to score, and the Manatees had both ends of the double header.
SS Brock Holt has been placed on the Disabled List with a bruise to his knee.

Altoona Curve 7, Harrisburg Senators 3
A 4-run 3rd inning got things going for the Curve, and they never looked back. Singles by starting pitcher Justin Wilson and CF Gorkys Hernandez plus an error on a ball hit by 3B Josh Harrison loaded the bases with Curve runners. A walk to 1B Matt Hague scored Wilson, and a single by 2B Jordy Mercer drove in both Hernandez and Harrison. Another error put Hague on third base. With RF Miles Durham at the plate, Mercer and Hague pulled off a double steal, with Mercer taking second and Hague stealing home.
The Curve went on to score one run in each of the next three innings. LF Anthony Norman led off the 4th with his first home run for the Curve. A single to Harrison led off the 5th, and a wild pitch moved him to second base. C Hector Gimenez’s single brought Harrison in from second base. In the 6th, the Curve loaded the bases with a double by Norman, SS Chase d’Arnaud being hit by a pitch, and a walk to Hernandez. An RBI single by Harrison brought Norman in to score, but the other three runners were left stranded.
Curve starter Justin Wilson pitched 6 innings and allowed only 2 unearned runs, on 3 hits. A walk, a fielding error by d’Arnaud, and a double drove in two unearned runs in the 6th inning. Wilson had scattered only two other hits and one more walk over the first 5 innings of the game. Dustin Molleken relieved Wilson in the 7th, and he allowed a run on a walk and a double in the 8th. It wasn’t enough to catch up, though. Mike Dubee gave up two walks in the 9th, but got the final strikeout to end the game.
