WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
Wolfe was the first shortstop taken by the Pirates in the 2017 draft. Selected out of Walters State CC, where he redshirted as a freshman in 2017, Wolfe has a commitment to the University of Tennessee. He also has three remaining years of eligibility, so he could be a difficult sign. Wolfe’s coach at Walters described him as having a plus arm and above average speed, with some power. He hit .393/.458/.655 in 44 games in 2017, with eight homers and 19 stolen bases in 22 attempts. In a strong year for Tennessee, Baseball America rated him the 34th best player in the state. |
