The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially recalled outfielder Alex Presley from the Indianapolis Indians, per a team press release. Earlier today we learned that Pedro Ciriaco had been optioned to Indianapolis to clear a spot on the roster for Presley.
Presley is hitting for a .336/.389/.500 line in 292 at-bats with Indianapolis this year, giving him a career .316/.370/.480 line in 564 at-bats at the AAA level, along with 14 home runs and 26 stolen bases. With Jose Tabata’s injury, Presley could see a lot of playing time in the majors. Even if Tabata is healthy, the Pirates will be playing with a designated hitter for the next few days, which would almost certainly provide an opportunity for Presley to be active in the lineup.
