WTM’S PLAYER PROFILE |
Vinicio wasn’t a prominent signee and doesn’t have any great tools, but he’s performed fairly well so far. He seems to profile as a corner outfielder, although he’s not a big guy. He was almost 21 when he signed.
2014 Vinicio saw part-time duty in the outfield corners, with a few games in center. He showed a solid bat with good plate discipline. 2015 Vinicio returned to the DSL and split his time between left field and DH, mostly the former. He hit well, making good contact with some gap power. 2016 Vinicio was the primary left fielder in the GCL until he got hurt in mid-August. He made extremely good contact, but showed no power or speed, and didn’t hit for a high average. 2017 The Pirates assigned Vinicio to Bristol at the start of the season, but once the draftees started showing up he moved down to the GCL. He struggled at the plate even more than the previous year. Vinicio isn’t making much progress. He’ll open 2018 at age 23. |
