Pirates DVR: Matt Gorski, Deivis Nadal, Aaron Shackelford

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Daily Video Rundown

Matt Gorski

Gorski added on to his system leading home run totals Friday night, hitting his 19th overall against Reading. It was his second with Altoona and went 2-for-5 on the night, adding in a double and two runs scored.

Deivis Nadal

The 20-year-old hit his first home run with Bradenton this year, and it was the first overall since 2019 back when he was in the Dominican Summer League.

Nadal has shown some flashes with the bat, but none bigger so far than this. He’s known for his defense at this point,   so any progress he makes with the bat are that much more encouraging.

Aaron Shackelford

A lot of home runs were hit Friday night in the system, so it’s fitting that Aaron Shackelford is among those who pitched in. The home run was his eighth of the season, and broke the 30 RBI plateau as well.

Rodolfo Nolasco

The offensive numbers still aren’t great, but he’s starting to make more noticeable contact. This one was a three-run home run, his fifth of the season, that opened up the scoring for Bradenton.

Canaan Smith-Njigba

In a lot of other situations, Canaan Smith-Njigba is probably getting his opportunity at the major league level. The Pirates have quite the crowd right now at the upper levels, with Jack Suwinski leading NL rookies in home runs, and Cal Mitchell fitting in nice at the major league level.

Smith-Njigba keeps buying his time until he gets a shot, with a RBI triple here for Indianapolis.

Brendt Citta

Citta hit his fourth home run of the season, third with the Altoona Curve. It was one of three home runs hit on the night by the Curve.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
