P2Daily: When Will Henry Davis Move Up to Altoona?

Published:

Henry Davis continues to mash in Greensboro.

Davis hit his fifth homer of the year last night, and now has a 1.048 OPS in 80 at-bats this season. When factoring in his pro debut last year, Davis has a 1.084 OPS and eight homers in 106 at-bats.

Clearly the bat from Davis is too advanced for the lower levels. Even when you factor in the hitter-friendly home park factors in Greensboro, Davis is still hitting for an .822 OPS on the road this year. His home run yesterday was part of a six home run night last night, where Maikol Escotto, Endy Rodriguez, Dariel Lopez, Hudson Head, and Jack Herman also homered. Those types of nights can be common when Greensboro is at home.

I don’t think this has anything to do with park factors with Davis though. My impression was that he was only going to be in Greensboro for part time, especially with the logjam at catcher he creates with Endy Rodriguez and Abrahan Gutierrez both on the roster.

Today, let’s do an exercise. Leave your prediction for when Henry Davis will be promoted to Altoona. As a tiebreaker, pick how many games it will take him to hit his first Double-A home run. This is just for fun, but who knows, maybe there will be a prize for the winner.
