Daily Video Rundown

Jack Suwinski

Acquired in the Adam Frazier trade, Jack Suwinski didn’t have the most ideal weeks against Richmond, batting just 4-for-19 (.210).

He got this series off to a great start, hitting a solo home run in the first inning to get the scoring started.

On the young season, the 23-year-old Suwinski is slashing .250/.333/.531 with five of his seven hits being for extra-bases.

Will Matthiessen

It hasn’t been the best of starts for the towering first baseman Will Matthiessen. The former sixth round pick out of Stanford had recorded just three hits on the season, none of which had gone for extra-bases.

With one swing of the bat Matthiessen corrected that, and in the meantime increased his total bases mark from three to eight in just one game. Matthiessen hit his first home run of the season, extending the lead to 3-0 at the time.

Canaan Smith-Njigba

It’s been a very quiet start to the season for Canaan Smith-Njigba. The lefty outfielder that was acquired in the Jameson Taillon trade has posted a very underwhelming OPS of .621 to begin the year, but had his best game to date on Wednesday.

Smith-Njigba went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a stolen base and two RBIs from this base hit that allowed the Indianapolis Indians retake the lead.

Mason Martin

If you could have five guessing on who on the Indianapolis roster would have two stolen bases and three triples so far in the season, would Mason Martin be among them?

Being realistic going into the season, it wouldn’t have been likely but yet Martin has flashed some speed on the base paths this year.

He swiped his second bag of the year on Wednesday, getting a giant lead before taking off on first movement. The impressive thing about this was that it was against a left-handed pitcher.

Liover Peguero

The young shortstop went into a bit of a funk last week against Richmond, going just 3-for-22 in five games played. Although he hit his second home run of the season, the highlights offensively were few and far between.

Returning home, Peguero got things going immediately, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a stolen base. Here’s a look at the first double he hit in the first innings, which was directly after Suwinski’s home run.
