Canaan Smith-Njigba
It hasn’t been the best of starts to the season for Canaan Smith-Njigba. After spending the majority of the season with the Altoona Curve in Double-A, he finished the year up with a brief stint in Indianapolis. From there he went on to play in the Arizona Fall League before being added to the 40-man roster in the offseason, before eventually heading back to Indianapolis to begin 2022.
On the season, Smith-Njigba is just 10-for-47 (.213) but his last hit was a big one, for him and the team, walking off the Indians in the bottom of the ninth with a single.
CANAAN. FOR THE WIN.
Mason Martin
The Indianapolis first baseman has been flexing some serious power in the early stages of the season. After Saturday’s home run, Martin has 16 home runs on the year, 12 of which have gone for extra bases. Martin has six doubles, three triples, and three home runs in 2022, and is slugging a modest .712 in 14 games.

Carter Bins
It’s been a rough start to the season offensively for Carter Bins. While his calling card will always be his defense, you certainly want to see a lot more than his current slash of .138/.219/.276.
If there is a positive to take out of it, is that when he has been making contact, it’s been for power. Of his four hits on the season, three of them have gone for extra bases. That includes his near inside the park home run he hit on Saturday, in which he was officially given a triple and scored on an error by the center fielder.

Jack Suwinski
On a team full of top end prospects, you can make an argument that no one is swinging a hotter bat than Jack Suwinski, as he picked up three more extra base hits on Saturday, including this three-run home run that originally gave the Curve the lead.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers won a wild and crazy game in extra innings, with Jack Herman being the hero with his game winning single that scored Henry Davis.
