Pirates Activate Corban Joseph and Chris Stratton, Call Up Jake Elmore

Published:

The Pirates have made a series of moves heading into today’s game with the Mariners.

Infielder Corban Joseph, who was just claimed from the Giants, has reported to the team and is active for the game tonight.

Right-handed pitcher Chris Stratton was reinstated from the 10-day IL.

Infielder Jake Elmore had his contract selected from Triple-A Indianapolis. His 40-man spot was created when Felipe Vazquez was placed on the restricted list.

Joseph and Elmore are both older infielders with little upside. If guys like Cole Tucker, Kevin Kramer, and even Erik Gonzalez are healthy, it would make no sense to give either Joseph or Elmore playing time.
