Oneil Cruz made his fifth start, coming into the day with an .067 (1-for-15) average. He was at shortstop batting seventh. Cruz went 1-for-2 with a single and two walks.

Jason Delay made his third start behind the plate and batted eighth. He went 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored. On defense, he went 0-for-5 throwing out runners and committed an error on a throw.

Nick Mears made his second relief appearance and he went 1.2 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit (single), a walk and struck out two batters. Mears threw 23 of 36 pitches for strikeouts. He tossed a shutout inning in his debut last week.

We mentioned last night that some teams from the winter league in Mexico are playing their version of Spring Training games in Arizona against AFL clubs. I noted in that article that Greensboro outfielder Fabicio Macias was on Aguilas de Mexicali and he went 1-for-4 with a double. On Wednesday night, he went 0-for-3 with a walk and his team’s lone RBI.
