PITTSBURGH — The Atlanta Braves have claimed right-handed pitcher Wilfredo Boscan off waivers from the Pirates.

Boscan, 26, was designated for assignment by the Pirates on August 4th to make room for Ryan Vogelsong to come off the 60-day disabled list.

He made six appearances (one start) for the Pirates in 2016 and had a 6.46 ERA and a 5.15 FIP. He also made 17 appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis this season, making 16 starts and posting a 3.75 ERA and a 3.32 FIP.

The Pirates originally signed Boscan as a minor league free agent from the Boston Red Sox in December 2014. They signed him again as a minor league free agent after the 2015 season.
