Relief pitcher Josh Wall has cleared waivers, and has been outrighted to Triple-A, the Pirates have announced. The right-hander was claimed off waivers from the Angels back in May. He put up a 3.22 ERA in 22.1 innings with Indianapolis, along with an 8.9 K/9 and a 3.6 BB/9 ratio. Wall was designated for assignment last week, making room on the 40-man roster for the recently claimed Angel Sanchez. He will be eligible for minor league free agency by the end of the year unless he’s added to the 40-man roster again.
Tim started Pirates Prospects in 2009 from his home in Virginia, which was 40 minutes from where Pedro Alvarez made his pro debut in Lynchburg. That year, the Lynchburg Hillcats won the Carolina League championship, and Pirates Prospects was born from Tim's reporting along the way. The site has grown over the years to include many more writers, and Tim has gone on to become a credentialed MLB reporter, producing Pirates Prospects each year, and will publish his 11th Prospect Guide this offseason. He has also served as the Pittsburgh Pirates correspondent for Baseball America since 2019. Behind the scenes, Tim is an avid music lover, and most of the money he gets paid to run this site goes to vinyl records.
The Marlins just designated Jacob Turner, owner of a 4 FIP, .368 BABIP and 51% GB rate. Everything else in his profile is trending up (FB velo, K rate) and he’s only 23. Please please please Neal get him. Put him in the pen. He’s better than Jeanmar and has more upside.
Agree 100%
He won’t make it to the Bucs in the waiver order…Rockies and Cubs will definitely make claims
Time for a creative 3-team trade.
