Jameson Taillon and Stetson Allie were on the road yesterday, which means I didn’t get a chance to watch them make their starts. I did, however, get their results.
Taillon went three innings, allowing no runs on one hit, with no walks and five strikeouts. He threw 41 pitches, and was 94-96 MPH with his fastball.
Allie also went three innings, allowing two runs, both unearned, on one hit. He struck out five and didn’t allow any walks. Allie threw 49 pitches and was 91-95 MPH with his fastball.

Most impressive seems to be the improved control from Allie. Sheesh what did he do over the off-season to dial that in??? Great to see!
This isn’t new. His control was much improved at the end of the year last year. He’s still got a ways to go, but there was a reason I’ve still been mentioning him as a potential starter. Every time I see him he just continues to improve. It’s easy to forget that last year was only his second year as a pitcher. So this kind of progression should be expected, since he’s just getting more experience under his belt.

Is the plan to getting Allie in a starting rotation (WV maybe?) or is the plan to keep him in the bullpen? Based on yesterday, I would guess they are trying to keep him stretched out into a starter’s role.
They’re stretching him out in a starter role, and he’s projected to move to WV at the start of the year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a starter.
most of what I hear is that they think of him as a starter and want him doing just that. Worst case for him would be a hard throwing late inning or closer option.

Good to see Allie pitch with some control (no walks)…Taillon did as expected. If Allie lives up to his potential/hype when drafted then that is going to be great! If he starts throwing 95 with control and then every now and then fires one in for 100 man that will be nasty…
